The Upland Police Department employs 12 full-time and 5 part-time dispatchers, plus one Dispatch Supervisor. Three dispatchers are on duty during the peak hours of operation and at least two dispatchers are on duty the remainder of the day. Our dispatch center is responsible for handling all 911 calls and all emergency line calls 24 hours a day. We also answer all business lines from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily. Our department utilizes the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) computer software and the 800MHz radio system. Dispatchers are also responsible for entering all DOJ, CLETS and NCIC entries.

Keeping your contact information on file with the police department can be highly beneficial in several ways. For example, if a report is received from a neighbor regarding a suspicious person seen on your property, a dispatcher can quickly contact you to advise of a potential threat, and confirm if the person has permission to be at your residence. Other examples include notifications such as a water leak, a garage door left open, or a need to evacuate.
Many times, the Police Department will receive information on a found special needs individual, such as an Autistic child or elderly person with Dementia who may be unable to tell us where they live. The Police Department would like to return them to their families as quickly as possible, and having your information on file enables us to do that.
All information is strictly for Law Enforcement use and will never be released to the public.
