Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch Program

The Upland Police Department is committed to reducing burglaries and improving neighborhood safety through a proven community program called Neighborhood Watch.

Neighborhood Watch is already active in several Upland neighborhoods, and participating areas have experienced measurable reductions in burglary and other crimes. This program works because neighbors become informed, alert, and connected with each other and local law enforcement.

What Is Neighborhood Watch?

Neighborhood Watch is a community-based crime prevention program where residents work together with the Upland Police Department to:

  • Identify suspicious activity

  • Learn how to protect their homes

  • Look out for one another

  • Report crime and concerns quickly and accurately

A Crime Prevention Officer will come directly to your neighborhood to meet with residents and provide training and resources.

What We Cover in a Neighborhood Watch Meeting

During your neighborhood meeting, our Crime Prevention Officer will discuss:

  • Home Security Tips
Learn simple and effective ways to secure your home and reduce opportunities for criminals.

  • Property Identification
We will demonstrate how to mark your property using an electric engraver for easier recovery if stolen.

  • Crime Awareness
Learn what to watch for, how to recognize suspicious behavior, and when to report it.

  • Community Communication
How neighbors can stay connected and share information safely and responsibly.

Benefits of Neighborhood Watch

  • Reduced burglaries and property crimes

  • Stronger relationships between neighbors

  • Faster reporting of suspicious activity

  • Increased sense of safety and community pride

  • Direct communication with the Upland Police Department
