Chalkin' It Up In Upland!

Throughout the Month of June
All Ages Welcome!

Get out your chalk, all the colors of the rainbow and get creative!   Brighten up your driveway or the sidewalk in front of your house with messages and pictures to say "HI" and send good wishes to your neighbors and friends.  Then, take a photo, complete an entry form, and share your masterpieces with us for a chance to win prizes in all age categories!

Little Chefs With Ms. Cooper Via Zoom

Tuesdays & Thursdays, June 22nd-July 1st
Mondays & Wednesdays, July 12th-July 21st
Tuesdays & Thursdays, August 3rd-August 12th

Ages 5-10 years

Ms. Cooper's class offers hands-on recipes, basic food preparation skills, measuring and safety lessons in the kitchen, and the opportunity to learn easy, fun, and tasty treats that can be made at home.  At the end of each class, the "Little Chefs" will enjoy their own tasty hand-made treats.  

All participants will need a personal computer to participate from home.  The registered participant will receive a log-in link to each class via email, along with a small grocery and supply list for each class.

The Art Box Summer Crafting For Kids

Tuesdays, June 22nd, July 13th, and August 3rd

The Chopping Block Summer Cooking For Kids

Kids...get ready for a fun-filled night created just for you!  Enjoy snacks, fun games & activities, craft projects, and a movie...with popcorn, of course!  

Parents, take this opportunity to check out a new restaurant or enjoy a quiet night spent indoors, with the confidence in knowing that your child will be well taken care of by our friendly, trained Recreation staff.

Virtual Bingo

Games will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Play for a chance to win prizes from the comfort of your own home!  Multiple games played per day.  Registration will open one month in advance.  Zoom meeting details and Bingo card will be emailed to each participant one week in advance.

2nd Annual 4th Of July House Decorating Contest

Upland Recreation and Community Services invites you to show your patriotic spirit! 
Be creative!  Be festive!  Have fun! 
 

Categories:  Most Creative, Most Patriotic, and Fan Favorite

Homeowners may enter or be nominated.  Judging will be based on curb appear only for exterior decorations, including interior decorations that are visible outside. 

Submit entry form to uplandrecreation@uplandca.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30th.  Winners will be announced on Thursday, July 1st, receiving a congratulatory 4th of July event yard stake created by The Sawdust Factory.  "Fan Favorite" voting will be available on the City of Upland Recreation and Community Services Facebook page Thursday, July 1st at 6:00 p.m.  Vote throughout the weekend, with the "Fan Favorite" announcement taking place on Tuesday, July 6th.  The Fan Favorite winner will receive a special gift!

4th Annual Red, White, And Blue Wheels On Parade

Saturday, July 3rd
11:30 a.m.
McCarthy Park, 20th Street & San Antonio Avenue, Upland

Gear up and cruise with star-spangled banner pride and flag inspired frills!  Children, get out your bicycles, scooters, wagons, and pedal cars and join us in a festive parade around the McCarthy Park walking path!   Prizes will be awarded for Best Decorated and Most Patriotic means of transportation.  All children will receive a participation gift.  Due to COVID restrictions, one parent per child.  Please don't forget helmets.

2nd Annual Independence Day Selfie Scavenger Hunt

How much do you know about the landmarks located in the City of Upland?  
So much to explore and so much to see,
Some newer, but some with history.
Walk or drive, let's have some fun and learn about our City!
Don't forget your camera or cell phone!

Rules:
1.  One entry per person.
2.  Each photo must be taken as a selfie with each item provided in the Scavenger Hunt list.  
3.  Submit all photos between Monday, June 28th and Tuesday, July 6th to sguzman@ci.upland.ca.us. 
4.  The first twenty completed entries will be placed in a raffle for a chance to win one of five prizes.
5.  Please remember to practice social distancing at all times.

Take & Make Summer Craft Kits For Kids With The Sawdust Factory

Register through Wednesday, July 7th, 6:00 p.m.
Pick-up on Tuesday, July 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Recreation Center located at 651 W. 15th Street, Upland. 

Upland Recreation and Community Services is excited to continue our partnership with The Sawdust Factory this year to provide "Take & Make" Summer Craft Kits for kids of all ages!  Each craft kit includes a wood cut-out created exclusively for Upland Recreation and Community Services participants, paint, and paint brush.  All that's needed if your creativity to provide a personal touch from the comfort of your own home!  

$11 Per Craft Kit
